Fixed a Salesforce integration that three agencies couldn't solve
The Challenge
Studio Simpatico, an NYC-based design agency, approached me with a critical problem. Their client, the Kurt Weill Foundation—dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacy of composer Kurt Weill—needed tighter integration between their Salesforce database and WordPress website.
Three previous agencies had attempted and failed to sync Salesforce data with WordPress. The foundation's team was manually copying data between systems, leading to inconsistencies and hours of wasted effort daily.
The existing setup had multiple pain points:
- • No automated sync between Salesforce and WordPress
- • Server timeouts when processing large datasets
- • Duplicate records appearing in search results
- • Complex Salesforce object types that WordPress couldn't understand
The Solution
I developed a comprehensive webhook-based integration that listened for Salesforce events and automatically processed them into WordPress custom post types.
Created a PHP Salesforce SDK wrapper that translated complex Salesforce object types into clean WordPress data structures. This abstraction layer made the integration maintainable and extensible.
The technical implementation included:
- • Webhook listener built in PHP to receive Salesforce events
- • Advanced scheduler using WordPress cron to handle large data imports
- • Duplicate prevention logic using unique Salesforce IDs
- • Error handling with detailed logging for troubleshooting
